Our latest Accelerate Series 2026 event brought together property investors, developers, and industry professionals for an insightful evening focused on two of the most important aspects of any property deal: tax and valuation.
Hosted in the City of London, the session explored how property finance extends far beyond securing funding, helping attendees better understand the factors that influence lending decisions and investment success.
The evening began with an economic update from Michael Shaikly of Shawbrook Bank, who shared his views on the current lending market, interest rate environment, and the wider economic outlook affecting property investors.
Next, Tom Kirk of Harling & Kirk Accountants provided practical guidance on property taxation, covering key considerations around tax planning, structuring investments, and incorporation. His session gave attendees valuable insight into how the right tax strategy can support long-term investment goals.
Sean Mansfield, Founder of Capital Value Surveyors, then offered a detailed look at how property valuations are carried out in practice, with a particular focus on HMO and yield-based valuations. He highlighted the factors valuers consider, common misconceptions, and how investors can better prepare for the valuation process.
The presentations were followed by an engaging panel discussion and live Q&A featuring Karl Griggs, Mariam Radi, Tom Kirk, Sean Mansfield, and Michael Shaikly. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions on real-life scenarios, with discussions covering lending, valuations, taxation, investment strategy, and the current property market.
As always, the event concluded with networking, allowing guests to continue conversations with the speakers and fellow property professionals.
