December Investor Day
At the beginning of December we held an Investor Day at which six lenders presented. Over 50 investors and industry specialists attended. The initial feedback from investors who attended was overwhelmingly positive and we wanted to remind you that the presentations from the day are now online on a dedicated webpage.
Government HMO consultation
The Government put out a consultation, which ended 13th December, seeking views on licensing of HMOs and related reforms. It covers:
1. Extending the scope of mandatory HMO licensing
2. National minimum room sizes in licensed HMOs
3. Impact assessment
4. Fit and proper test
5. Refuse disposal facilities
6. Purpose built student housing

Are you sure your tenants have a right to rent?

The hidden dangers of Airbnb for landlords
Airbnb rentals are attractive to landlords as they can bring in higher revenue with short-term lets than with long-term tenants.
According to an investigative report by The Times, councils say that Airbnb landlords can earn up to three times as much per night as in long-term rentals.
However, if landlords are not careful, they can easily find themselves in trouble both with their mortgage provider and the authorities.
